Can you even imagine the hue and cry that would go up from the extreme right/Tea Party crowd if liberal Democrats proposed a law granting broad police power to detain and question anyone that merely looked like they might be carrying an unregistered firearm? The right always portrays Progressives as socialist communists out to undermine the Constitution and destroy the fabric of America when they step into grey areas of civil rights while the Repbulicans are always depicted as patriots defending us from evil when they wiretap/torture/abuse
police power.
